Golf Ball (2011 Porsche Cayman Track Car)

Golf Ball is the flagship of the Ball Pit Motorsports fleet—a purpose-built 2011 Porsche Cayman that has evolved from a street sports car into a serious time attack and HPDE machine. Its nickname comes naturally from the car's white paint and extensive hail damage, giving it the unmistakable look of a giant golf ball. While the exterior wears its scars proudly, every mechanical system has been upgraded with one goal in mind: turning fast, consistent laps.

Underneath, Golf Ball is built around proven motorsports components including Nitron R1 coilovers custom-valved by Inertia Labs, an OS Giken limited-slip differential, upgraded GT3 and Cayman R suspension components, comprehensive cooling upgrades, and solid drivetrain mounts. The cockpit features Sparco race seats, a Competition Motorsports half cage, AIM MXL2 data logging with SmartyCam integration, and driver-focused controls designed for maximum confidence on track. Supporting modifications such as GT3 brake cooling, Sebro rotors, Cobalt pads, and a GT3 master cylinder provide the braking performance needed for repeated hard sessions.

Power comes from the 2.9L flat-six breathing through IPE headers, a Soul Performance race exhaust, and a Softronic tune, delivering an unmistakable soundtrack that is every bit as aggressive as the car's appearance. With multiple wheel sets, extensive suspension development, and thousands of track miles of refinement, Golf Ball serves as the team's primary time trial car (NASA TT4 and SCCA T3) and the benchmark against which every new project is measured.
